Our Opportunity:

C4 Therapeutics is seeking an enthusiastic, scientifically motivated Research Scientist to join our Cell Pharmacology team. A key role will be the hands-on operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of C4T’s integrated automation system, which includes liquid handling, storage and readout systems, and development/optimization of automation workflows. Additionally, the candidate must also be able to support the advancement of drug discovery programs at the bench through the development and implementation of in vitro plate-based cellular assays to characterize molecules that induce the degradation of disease-causing proteins. The ideal candidate will possess a background in biotechnology, cancer biology, or cell pharmacology and experience with laboratory automation in an academic or drug discovery setting. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to team success, ability to work effectively as part of a team, and the skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage & maintain integrated automation infrastructure that supports compound dispensing into HTS assay plates, plate storage and plate readers, independently troubleshoot technical issues as the arise.
  • Collaborate with other scientists, leverage knowledge and skills of automation to support cross-functional teams on a variety of projects to develop, optimize, test, and implement automation workflows.
  • Act as the Cell Pharmacology representative or Profiling Lead in efforts to advance drug discovery projects in a multidisciplinary, collaborative project team setting; build and support cell-based assay screening strategies to achieve project goals, interpret and communicate results, and recommend next steps to the project teams
  • Coordinate and manage the execution of supportive cellular assays at CROs
  • Generate, analyze, and QC assay data using analysis software and database tools

Your Background:

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology with 2+ years direct experience with integrated HTS lab automation & laboratory information management systems (LIMS); M.S. degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage integrated lab automation infrastructure, provide support for project-based HTS screening efforts, develop & optimize workflows and troubleshoot technical issues with automation is essential and required.
  • Hands-on experience with Echo acoustic liquid dispenser (Beckman Coulter) & HighRes Biosolutions integrated automation systems and software (Cellario) strongly preferred, but not required
  • Experience with HTS plate incubation automation for cell-based assays (Liconic) and high-capacity plate storage carousels (Ambistore) preferred.
  • Experience with LIMS systems and electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN)
  • Experience in drug discovery, small molecule compound profiling, familiarity with a broad range of cell-based assay technologies, and laboratory automation is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with mammalian cell culture techniques is preferred.
  • Experience in the areas of oncology & cellular signaling pathways desired; experience in inflammation/immunology are a plus
  • Highly self-motivated, willing to learn, great attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • A record of success working within cross-functional project teams and the capability of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment will be required
