Position Description: The Assistant Corporate Controller will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day accounting operations are being carried out timely and accurately. This person will serve in a quality control role by monitoring key processes and ensuring corporate accounting processes are documented and kept-up to date. As the next in charge for corporate accounting, the Assistant Corporate Controller will be responsible for certain critical tasks that require a greater degree of critical thinking and expertise. In this leadership role, the Assistant Corporate Controller will work closely with the Corporate Billing Manager and the Corporate Staff Accountant to trouble shoot and problem solve issues they encounter. The position will also help manage the month-end close process and will assist in preparation of company financial reports. The ideal candidate will possess solid accounting background, excellent organizational and time management skills, be a self-starter able to recognize priorities and able to easily re-prioritize as needed. This position will also provide support to other team members, serving as a sounding board to help tackle issues and also as a back-up to cover for vacations and absences. In a nutshell, the successful Corporate Assistant Controller will

be the glue that holds the team and department together.


Duties include:

  • Assist with overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including but not limited to AP, AR, payroll pass-through billing, and general ledger.
  • Assist in mentorship of junior team members, including assisting team with problem resolution.
  • Participate in month-end close process by monitoring AR and AP progress and stepping in to help complete tasks as needed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all AR, AP, GL and cash management tasks to be able to provide coverage for absences in these areas.
  • Assist in preparation of month-end financial summary and other financial analysis upon request.
  • Manage corporate receivable balances including review of AR aging and manage collection of outstanding AR for exiting and former clients.
  • Manage payroll pass-through billing and field questions from internal partners and board members.
  • Manage corporate credit program, including issuance of new cards, recording and reconciliation of card transactions, cardholder account maintenance and assist with resolving card holder problems.
  • Manage onboarding of new clients, including review of new contracts for extract of billing information and set-up new clients in accounting system, and review of initial client billings.
  • Assists the Controller in preparing annual budget projections based on input from executives.
  • Manage accounting setup of new office locations, including set-up of rent and utility payments, and other major contracts.
  • Be integral in building out new processes, systems and tools to drive efficiencies in corporate accounting operations.
  • Maintain database and library of corporate vendor contracts.
  • Prepare written documentation including procedural descriptions, reports of findings, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies throughout the organization.
  • Serve as a liaison to leadership across the organization, assisting with corporate accounting related service issues.
  • Manage tax compliance, including business license filings, federal and state tax payment obligations.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with HR and Operations teams to support financial reporting needed for external audits.
  • Support corporate AR and AP functions as needed.
  • Assists the Controller in preparing annual budget projections based on input from executives.
  • Assist in preparation of month-end financial summary and other financial analysis upon request.
  • Perform ad hoc assignments and special projects related to finance areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of accounting experience, or equivalent is required. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or relevant discipline preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly while meeting deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong data processing experience and skills; including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Shows initiative and demonstrates a willingness to take ownership on assignments.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work and complete tasks with little supervision and/or in collaboration with other team members.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to growing organizations and deal with the Company’s changing needs and priorities
