POSITION DETAILS

ReNEW Robert Russa Moton: Lakefront Campus seeks an Assistant Principal for grades 5-8. Moton Charter will transition to ReNEW Schools in the 2024-2025 school year. We seek an experienced, dynamic leader who can coach and develop teachers, create and maintain systems and structures, and lead school culture. The ideal Assistant Principal Candidate will lead a team to build a solid foundation for the school’s academic program by providing students with educational activities and experiences that will enable them to fulfill ReNEW Schools’ mission. Middle School math expertise is required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

At ReNEW schools, we expect our Assistant Principals to work at a high level of excellence in the following four essential competencies.

  • Coaching:  Coaching is first and foremost in the role of an Assistant Principal.  At ReNEW Schools, coaching is the foundation of our academic culture and vision. Coaching includes:
    • You will coach teachers effectively and improve their performance through clear coaching visions, effective debriefs, and school-based solid professional development.
    • You will be an instructional expert. You will ensure teachers plan and internalize rigorous, engaging Louisiana Standards aligned lessons and effectively execute them to ensure all students work with content aligned to the appropriate standards for their subject and grade.
  • Systems:  In conjunction with the school vision, mission, and values, be able to create or modify schedules and academic groupings based on student data.
    • Proactively create, prepare, and communicate school systems to stakeholders. By anticipating stakeholder needs, we can make necessary ed systemic changes aligned with school priorities and mission.
  • Data:  Determining the most salient aspects of a data set and utilizing it to plan professional development sessions and coaching sessions.
    • Use data all day, every day. You and your teachers will assess qualitative and quantitative student data to draw insightful conclusions and adjust instruction as necessary.
  • Culture:  In alignment with the established school culture system, be able to effectively model, observe, and coach colleagues on academic and student culture
    • Create a positive student and staff culture. You will work with the leadership team to build a school environment that reflects high expectations and a positive learning environment and ensure all stakeholders are clear on these expectations and held accountable.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's level degree preferred
  • At least three years of effective teaching experience
  • At least one year of successful instructional coaching experience. 

FLSA Classification: Exempt
