Trust Tax Manager
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Reports to: Trust Tax Manager
Employment Type: Full-time, in office

Overview:
Peak Trust Company is seeking a skilled and experienced Trust Tax Manager to oversee all aspects of trust tax administration within our firm. The Trust Tax Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with tax regulations, ensuring timely completion of tax filings, and providing expert guidance on trust taxation matters. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with our clients, advisors, and internal teams to optimize tax outcomes and enhance overall client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the preparation and filing of trust tax returns, including Forms 1041 and related state filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Analyze trust documents and financial information to ensure tax obligations for all accounts are being successfully completed.
  • Stay current on changes to tax laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting trust taxation, and communicate implications to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with trust administrators, investment professionals, and legal counsel to coordinate tax planning strategies and address client needs.
  • Provide tax-related guidance and support to clients and internal teams, answering inquiries and resolving tax-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor on tax matters and contributing to the overall success of our firm.
  • Supervise existing Tax Officers at all locations and refine internal tax processes.
  • Policy and Procedure refinement and creation as it relates to internal tax processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree (e.g., MST) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in trust taxation, with a strong understanding of fiduciary income taxation principles and regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of IRS regulations and reporting requirements related to trusts and estates.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex trust documents and financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain tax concepts and strategies to clients and colleagues.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
