Job Description:
The Associate Director for Recruiting and Admissions is a member of the administrative staff and reports to the Associate Dean of Students. The Associate Director has responsibility for implementation and support of programs directly related to prospective and current students at both Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) and The General Theological Seminary (GTS).
Duties:
Recruitment and Admissions
- Work with the Associate Dean of Students and the Director of Doctoral Programs and the chair of the GTS Admissions committee to plan and carry out the institutional recruitment plan at both The General Theological Seminary and Virginia Theological Seminary.
- Develop and maintain application information on the website so that instructions about how to apply to a particular program are clear and easy to follow.
- Coordinate VTS fall and spring visit days and host GTS webinar Assist with processing, reviewing, and assessing admissions applications.
- Serve as staff support for the Admissions committees at both The General Theological Seminary and Virginia Theological Seminary.
- Coordinate the development of admissions marketing material, including print and digital media.
- Build relationships with Episcopal churches, colleges, and dioceses and represent the Seminary at conferences.
- Monitor and analyze admissions data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Supervise the Housing and Admissions Coordinator.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain up to date student data, both electronic and paper, according to institutional policies and best practices (including proof of student health insurance etc.).
- Create a welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or some college and no less than 3 years of higher education experience required.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite—Word and Excel in particular.
- Familiarity with the Episcopal Church and discernment processes.
- Familiarity with learning management software required, experience with Blackbaud preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality.
The Associate Director may be required to be present for weekend events. Some overnight travel may be required.
