Compensation: Range of $65-85K (negotiable based on education and experience)

Position FTE: 1.0 (Full-time), including evening and weekend work as necessary

Reports to: Co-Executive Directors

Location: Wichita, KS

Travel: Up to 25%

Summary:

Trust Women is a non-profit organization seeking a Director of Development to provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination of all fundraising efforts. The Director of Development will plan and implement a development and fundraising program to provide for the short and long-term needs of the organization. The director will work with Executive Leadership and other staff to pursue fundraising strategies that increase the organization’s support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources. This is a critical role that requires a dynamic leader ready to take advantage of opportunities and position Trust Women to reach more people and garner increasing support year over year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include supervising and/or performing the following:

• Develop, coordinate, maintain, and implement, in conjunction with Executive Director(s), an annual development fundraising plan.

• Maintain updates and analysis of the fundraising plan for evaluation and a shift in any needed implementation.

• Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential contributors.

• Establish short- and long-range goals for funding sources and enlist support to identify sources of restricted and unrestricted funding, focusing on growing the fundraising budget over the next five years.

• Assigns, plans, and oversees the work of department staff.

• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

• Maintain the software/database and records for contributors, grants, and any other development positions that may arise for good data hygiene.

• Representing Trust Women’s interests on the ground, building connections with key stakeholders in conjunction with the leadership team

• Build strategic capacity within the development department so Trust Women can expand access to abortion care where needed most.

• Report on development activities to supporters, board, executive leadership, colleagues, and staff

• Oversee the writing of proposals and reports in conjunction with other staff to appropriately targeted foundations

. • Demonstrates self-motivation and ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment.

• Develop and write fundraising mail, in conjunction with colleagues and consultant(s), both resolicit and prospecting, according to the development and fundraising plan.

• Establish and coordinate events around the country. Working with other departments to identify hosts, guests, and vendors for support.

• Work with other departments to maintain financial records.

• Manage call time and donor engagement for development staff and executive leadership.

• Oversee research and prospecting of new potential new contributors.

• Work to expand and diversify donor and support base.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of development experience, with significant individual and foundation fundraising experience

• Minimum of 3 years managing and leading direct reports, including interviews, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and employee development

. • COVID-19 Vaccinated or willingness to obtain within 4 weeks of hire.

• Effectively prioritize multiple duties.

• Ability to work effectively in a team, creating collaborative relationships with others.

• Demonstrate self-motivation and ability to work independently.

• Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals

• Superlative communication skills include writing and speaking eloquently and persuasively about the organization and its causes

• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and understanding of strategic development.

• Strong partnership-building skills

• Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base

• Good computer skills and knowledge of database programs

• Knowledge of EveryAction(contributor relationship management database) is desirable

• Ability to travel approximately 15 to 25 percent in the future

• Ability to work with the executive director(s) and staff on donor meetings, events, and other activities as they arise

Education/Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Understanding reproductive health, rights, and justice is mandatory

• Unequivocal support of reproductive rights
