Assistant Director of Nursing--Registered Nurse

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services. In collaboration with the Executive Director and Medical Director, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner. This position collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for nursing department personnel.
- Develop, maintain, and implement nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal licensing/accreditation agencies laws, regulations and guidelines.
- Evaluate the work performance of direct report nursing personnel and provide oversight of next-level personnel, determine merit increases, and implement discipline according to operational policies.
- Participate in clients' medical care, address and resolve all concerns regarding medical care or treatment by nursing staff.
- Develop strategic initiatives, implement new or revised programs, policies and procedures and monitor outcome and results.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and actively participate with recruitment in the recruiting and hiring process.
- Interpret policies and procedures and communicate understanding to nursing staff, and monitor staff practices and implementation.
- Facilitate and/or participate in regularly scheduled team meetings, multi-disciplinary review meetings and facility leadership meetings.
- Ensure quality assurance/improvement through audits and other data, submit/review incident reports for the medical department.
- Oversee all Nursing/Medical department expenses, approve expenses and purchases and assist with budget development and maintenance.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with current clients, family members, referrals sources and vendors.
- Comply with the company’s code of conduct.
- Availability for alternate, evening and weekend shifts may be required to meet state and regulatory agency requirements and business necessity.

Job Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
Associates Degree is Nursing required
Certifications:
Current RN licensure required
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in nursing management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing.
Skill in organizational and time management and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
Ability to make presentations before top management, public groups, and staff.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to demonstrate Practice-Based Client Care and Procedural Skills
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
