Job Description

The Assistant Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations is responsible for assisting in fundraising operations, which includes coordinating all gift administration and stewardship for corporate & foundation gifts. The position works to establish long-term partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with CFR donors and potential donors.

This is an exempt position that reports directly to the Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, U.S. Naval Academy Foundation and works collaboratively across the Enterprise and with Naval Academy stakeholders.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Operations

  • Maintain the integrity of all corporate and foundation records with continuous and accurate Blackbaud CRM documentation.
  • Maintain stewardship calendar for all accounts, including deadlines for critical deliverables.
  • Assist in coordination of the solicitation and tracking of significant donor appeals and campaigns.
  • Prepare data and content for the CFR Annual Report at conclusions of each fiscal year and assist on strategy for future planning efforts.

Donor Stewardship

Manage an effective stewardship program for CFR donors, including:

  • Managing all grant activities for gifts, including CyberGrants.
  • Acknowledge all donor contributions with the donor and in internal gift database.
  • Work closely with Naval Academy faculty/staff to identify appropriate areas for corporate and foundation engagement. Ensure CFR is leveraging all opportunities for external parties to engage throughout the year.
  • Coordinate all aspects of site visits to the Naval Academy for corporate and foundation donors.

Donor Communications

Assist in developing and executing consistent, personalized engagement with CFR donors, including:

  • Maintain CFR Calendar of Engagement opportunities at USNA for partners and manage the external invitations process.
  • Assist in developing and sending consistent communications updates to partners, including USNA news relevant to their interests (i.e., newsletters, etc.).

Prospect Management

Work closely with the Director of CFR to identify, cultivate, solicit and close corporate and foundation gifts. Prospect management will include, but is not limited to:

  • Assist in developing meeting briefs, including research on corporate / foundation objectives and interests, personal bios, etc.
  • Coordinate all aspects of site visits to the Naval Academy for corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Prepare solicitation proposals and gift agreements that make a compelling case for donors to meet Naval Academy needs.

Project Management

Manage operations related to Project-Based Learning Activities that are supported by CFR partners:

  • Capstone Day: Track corporate engagement in Capstone projects. Manage corporate / partner engagement for Capstone Day activities.
  • Internships: Develop and maintain relationships with key personnel on the Yard related to Internships. Track and manage activities related to internships.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

  • Strong project management and organizational competencies with demonstrated aptitude for multitasking and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong service-orientation for the mission for the United States Naval Academy, Alumni Association, and Foundation.
  • High degree of proficiency/adaptability in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Website management).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented team player with bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • A preference for 4 to 7 years development (i.e. non-profit fundraising), communications / marketing / operations experience.
  • Aptitude for complex fundraising or sales database/software, preferably experience in Blackbaud CRM or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with support staff responsibilities in a university, non-profit, military or related environment.
