ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF NURSING

POSITION SUMMARY: The Rochester Christian University School of Nursing is seeking applications for nurse educators at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be tenure track eligible and teach twenty-two (22) to twenty-five (25) workload units (WLU) per calendar year as 60% of their appointment, with Scholarship and Service making up the remaining 40%. This is a 12-month appointment, however, at this time there are no summer teaching assignments, and summer meetings are minimal. Faculty are encouraged to use this time to stay current with clinical skills in a clinical setting.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Michigan (or eligibility for Michigan licensure)
• Master’s degree in Nursing
• A minimum of two (2) years (can be flexible for the stellar candidate) directly related work experience in nursing education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• For specific rank indicators: See Criteria for Promotion and Evaluation document.
• Participate with faculty to develop learning activities for students.
• Provide input to the Dean for planning regarding program effectiveness.
• Stay up to date with current developments in the field by reviewing journals, abstracts, and scientific literature.
• Participate in RCU and RCU-SON committee work.
• Attend designated University and SON events, including White Coat Ceremony, Senior Capstone Conference (on campus), SON Pinning Ceremony, Commencement, etc.
• Report accurate grades and feedback to students.
• Serve as adviser for students.
• Hold a minimum of five (5) office hours per week.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work, profession or discipline.
