Job description summary:

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled receiving crew leader who leads the processes and activities in the receiving department. Responsible for handling all shipping/receiving duties, including shippers, receivers, (partial, complete, productive, and non-productive) orders against purchase orders, bills-of-lading, labels returns to vendors, customer data (input and inquiry), invoicing, shipping documents, and inventory relating to material coordinator duties. The focus of this job is on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Precise, consistent work output is essential requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

  • Expedite paperwork as required and prioritizes incoming deliveries
  • Responsible for accurate inventory of all incoming shipments and deliveries
  • Assign jobs and duties as needed to receiving clerks
  • Reject damaged goods in accordance with established NMR guidelines and policies
  • Assure all ISO procedures are being followed within the department
  • Responsible for storing and inventorying material and parts in the proper location
  • Maintain department in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Provide training and support to receiving employees
  • Communicate with assistant distribution manager about any problems
  • Promote safety awareness
  • Enforce company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Provide timely responses of information into computer’s system or written inquiries
  • Access computer files (purchasing, inventory, vendor files)
  • Maintain inventory control system (work order applications, closures, and cycle count)
  • Participation in annual physical inventory and cycle counting systems
  • Prepare Muncie Power truck mail/material
  • Maintain month-end flow rates reports
  • Contact freight companies and vendor services by phone, personal contact, and e-mail in a personable, friendly manner
  • Implement and maintain filing system
  • Receiving maintenance (deletions, corrections, and vendor records)
  • Coordinates work with all plant management as necessary

Experience & skills:

  • Associate degree preferred
  • Prefer a minimum of four (4) years of experience in manufacturing shipping & receiving environment
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience would be a plus
  • Excellent quantitative and deductive reasoning with ability to make quick and accurate decisions
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Able to make recommendations and effectively participate in the implementation of company policies and procedures
  • Capable of creating change across functional and departmental boundaries
  • A persuasive speaker to both peers and superiors—has natural charisma
  • Effectively able to present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Flexibility to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignments
  • Must be able to attain and maintain a forklift license
  • Ability to work well with others
