The Maintenance I is in a position of considerable responsibility which demands a variety of abilities. These abilities include but are not limited to repair and maintenance of group homes, ISLs, administrative facilities, and other Arc facilities. General remodeling, maintenance of roadways, parking lots and snow removal are included in these responsibilities. This individual may also be asked to drive a vehicle to transport clients or staff.
Essential Job FunctionsThe development of and continued implementation of a preventive maintenance schedule in the group homes, ISLs, administrative facilities, and other Arc facilities.
Minor repair to buildings and equipment.
General remodeling work.
Performs tasks common to the care of grounds and landscapes such as mowing lawns with riding or push mowers; trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, sidewalks, and buildings; weeding, thinning and cleaning flower beds and other grounds by hand or utilizing proper tools and equipment.
Ensure that high standards of safety are developed, met, and maintained at all Arc facilities.
Arranges and coordinates the internal safety inspections of residential facilities and the Activity Center. Follows up on deficiencies and recommendations.
Participates in the process and function of The Arc of the Ozarks Health and Safety Committee.
Completes, coordinates, and arranges for the completion of corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with Arc of the Ozarks operating procedures, practices, and financial considerations.
Ensures that major equipment and furnishings are maintained in safe, operable conditions and/or arranges for replacement.
Provide training as assigned to the residential staff as it relates to the safety and maintenance needs of residential facilities
Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesA knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling and carpentry. This may be measured by other jobs held and work required in those jobs and or certificates of training in the above mentioned areas.
Experience as a maintenance person in a residential/commercial setting is helpful.
Must be able to stand, stoop, lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing 75 pounds.
A minimum of eighteen years of age and possession of a diploma from an accredited High School or the equivalent.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Missouri Class E driver’s license
Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications
Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance person in a residential or other type of setting preferred. Proven ability to complete maintenance projects in the past.
