GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cook assists in the implementation of the assigned meal program for the facility

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Prepares food as required by Food Service Coordinator.
- Maintains sanitation standards for Food Service Area.
- Fo11ows the Food Service Coordinators instruction in producing and serving food to meet federal and state nutritional standards.
- Interprets menus to ensure that Nutrition Standards are being met.
- Exhibits the ability to prepare food in large quantities without constant reference to recipe card or asking other employees questions.
- Maintains required forms and records as assigned by Food Service Coordinator.
- Accepts responsibility for general cleaning of food service area.
- Accepts responsibility for stocking shelves and cleaning storeroom.
- Utilities a11 food stocked to the fullest extent possible.
- Advises Food Service Coordinator of repairs needed to equipment.
- Keeps Food Service Coordinator informed of pertinent situations.
- Exhibits the ability to serve food in quantities that meet requirements.
- Performs duties involved in the safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities.
- Practices safety precaution measures in all phases of food service operation.
- Participates in implementing cost containment measures while maintaining quality.
- Exhibits knowledge of operating all equipment, work techniques and methods of performing duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Assists during transition and movement of children from one activity to the next and one physical location to another.
Participates in ongoing meetings, conferences, and training programs as required.
Helps coordinate on-site community meetings, understands group dynamics, promotes and maintains a positive peer group culture.
Provides coverage for assigned staff when needed.
Provides security monitoring.
Ability to operate surveillance camera systems.
Responsible for adhering to all US, contract and other state regulations.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Assists in the performance of custodial duties as needed.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Assists with transporting lunches as needed.
Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy.
Participates in and supports safety meetings, training and goals.
Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and/or REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Institutional food services
Must demonstrate experience training and leading others and adapting to diverse situations.
Minimum age of 21 years or older.
Must have the ability to resolve unforeseen problems with little or no direction from manager.
Excellent presentation skills as well as oral and written communication skills required.
Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products required.
Bilingual in Spanish & English (Read, Write, Speak).
Clean criminal background check.
Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check (CAN).
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations (Emergency Task Order or Cooperative Agreement).
Able to evacuate at short notice to accompany residents possibly to a different city for several days at a time.
Ability to remain calm and composed under stress.
Must be able to perform emergency behavioral intervention (EBI) for children in care (as applicable per contract and/or cooperative agreements).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to ascend/descend stairs
Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
Able to withstand changing environmental conditions with weather (rain, lightning, extreme heat and winds).
