Job Description

The Project Manager is the primary customer contact for the daily operations of professional services engagements. Typical engagements range from defining strategic direction (e.g., clarifying content, implementation approaches, and creating a delivery roadmap for a client) to full-enterprise systems implementations, predominantly supporting our own software products and content development services. The ideal candidate will have a history of successful project executions based on their expertise as a Project Manager/Analyst and their ability to build relationships, influence, and negotiate with project participants and partners.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, document and execute all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Lead customer-facing projects. Oversee project teams and activities. Manage client relationships, expectations, and communications.
  • Act as an advocate for the business, by providing best-in-class service for the duration of the project.
  • Analyze tradeoffs between usability, cost, and performance. Assist the client in assessing those tradeoffs and work to ensure timely decision making.
  • Perform all project management activities using Waterfall and Agile methods as required by the project.
  • Build positive relationships with clients to ensure Utilize available project management tools for project planning, scope management, issue mitigation and risk management, reporting, etc.
  • The successful completion of projects and the identification of future business opportunities.
  • Build positive relationships with internal project and support teams (e.g. product development).
  • Facilitate Scrum and Kanban events, sprints, ticket implementation, including planning, daily calls, backlog grooming, demos, retrospectives.
  • Track project performance metrics.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Document customer requirements and implementations, often as User Stories and Agile Epics/Stories.
  • Direct the creation of project management artifacts that define implementations (e.g. use cases, process and workflow diagrams, etc.) and govern execution (spend plans, status reports, etc.).
  • Collaborate with both technical and subject matter experts (internal, external, and client/staff) to maintain focus on the project vision and manage the scope of the project.


Mandatory Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work on-site 5 days a week. (M-F)
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • A BA/BS.
  • At least 5 years of relevant project management experience with solid references.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading software implementation projects with a proven track record of implementing software systems in complex business environments. Project experience must encompass all project phases (start-up through the roll out and support) and include end-to-end experience in the system development life cycle.
  • Experience creating Gantt charts for high-level project roadmaps (experience with Monday.com a plus).
  • Experience with Agile methods, including Scrum, Kanban, in a software development environment.
  • Collaborative, team player with superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, as evidenced by experience analyzing and documenting complex business requirements and processes.
  • Successful track record interacting with clients at multiple levels, including business sponsors, project managers, senior and middle managers, executives, subject matter experts and end-users.
  • Must be results orientated - a practical and creative problem solver.
  • Knowledge of publishing (e.g., professional, commercial, scholarly, technical, non-profit, etc.) and/or content management processes and/or technologies is highly desirable.
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills.
