Position Summary:

The Director of Innovative Technology Solutions is primary responsibility for the daily coordination, management, supervision, and planning of Innovative Technology Solutions Department for the Intermediate Unit.

Start date for this position will be in June or July 2024.

Average Hours per week 35+

260 Day Work Year

25 Vacation Days, 5 Personal Days, 13 Sick Days, 2 Mental Health Days

Required minimum 8.5% contribution to Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System (PSERS).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • A minimum of five years in a supervisory IT position
  • Consortium for School Networking's Certified Educational Technology Leader certification OR willingness to obtain

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education, business administration, leadership or similar field
  • Familiarity with the most current technologies and products used within IT
  • Microsoft and/or Google certifications

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the operation of the information processing.
  • Direct and coordinate the system analysis, programming, and operation function of the information center.
  • Review priorities in application development with management and with end users.
  • Provide administrative direction to the information center.
  • Determine staffing requirements and establish work schedules.
  • Plan and direct training programs for information center employees.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the IT needs of the IU.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the communication and network needs of the IU.
  • Determine the needs and requirements for IU Internet Access and related services.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate communication and network services from external resources.
  • Investigate and pilot alternative delivery methods for communications, networking, and other technologies as needed by the IU.
  • Determine daily operational needs of technology systems throughout the IU.
  • Assist in IU budget planning, evaluation, and development.
  • Assist in coordinating crisis management team. Actively participate in the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units Instructional Media Services (PAIMS) job-a-like group.
  • Actively participate in a national educational technology leadership organization such as the Cosnortium for School Networking.
  • Cost recovery (work with administrators to establish an effective work order monitoring system that will assist in the future recovery of costs associated with technology management) and explore new revenue sources.
  • Prepare for Regional Technology Support Group meetings; main point of contact for meetings.
  • Assist the Executive Director with creation and review of data privacy and data security policies.
  • Responsible for procedures and practices regarding data privacy and security.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact the organization.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. Incumbent must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment with a vast majority of the time utilizing computers to complete daily tasks. Due to travel outside of the home office, candidates are required to have a vehicle and valid driver's license to attend job related duties, meetings, seminars, and trainings.
