AlertMedia is seeking a Director, Solutions Engineering to partner closely with our sales organization and play a critical role in helping prospective customers to understand the value of our platform. This is a hands-on, player/coach role - ideal for a seasoned Solutions Engineering leader who enjoys being deeply involved in the sales process while also building, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing Solutions Engineering team over time.

Who you are:

You are an experienced Solutions Engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of sales strategy, technical depth, and people leadership. You're comfortable rolling up your sleeves to lead high-stakes demos and solve complex technical challenges, while also coaching our Solutions Engineers to elevate their impact.

You bring a strong "one team, one goal" mindset, enjoy working cross-functionally, and know how to translate technical capabilities into meaningful business outcomes for customers and prospects alike.

What you get to do every day:

  • Balance team development and hands-on technical contribution, spending your time mentoring and leading Solutions Engineers and directly supporting strategic deals
  • Lead by example, setting the bar for technical excellence, consultative selling, and customer advocacy
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and develop a team of Solutions Engineers through regular 1:1s, career development planning, performance feedback, and coaching on both technical and sales skills
  • Enablement & Certification: Define and execute a regional technical strategy, ensuring the team is enabled, certified, and equipped to lead value-based technical conversations across the AlertMedia platform
  • Pipeline Health & Sales Partnership: Partner with Sales leadership in forecast and pipeline reviews to ensure technical readiness and alignment for active and upcoming deals
  • Operational Excellence: Standardize and continuously improve Solutions Engineering best practices, demo flows, discovery approaches, and proof-of-concept (PoC) frameworks
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success to surface insights from the field and influence platform evolution
  • Strategic Deal Leadership: Lead technical discovery, solution design, and demonstrations for high-value or complex accounts, serving as the technical voice and trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle
  • Solution Prototyping & Problem Solving: Develop prototypes, technical spikes, or custom integrations to unblock complex deals or inform future product direction
  • Executive-Level Engagement: Facilitate technical discussions with CIOs, CTOs, and senior stakeholders, translating platform capabilities into clear business value and outcomes
  • Customer Advocacy: Serve as a strong bridge between customers, Sales, and Product, advocating for customer needs and influencing the product roadmap based on real-world use cases

What you bring to the role:

  • 8-10+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Pre-Sales Engineering, or Solutions Architecture in a SaaS organization
  • 2-3+ years in a people leadership role
  • Proven success in high-growth SaaS environments, with experience supporting API-driven integrations and cloud infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of sales methodologies such as MEDDICC, and experience partnering closely with Account Executives
  • A true player-coach mindset - able to move seamlessly from high-level strategy and coaching to hands-on troubleshooting and technical execution
  • Passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience through thoughtful, consultative problem-solving
  • Excellent prioritization, project management, and organizational skills in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong coaching mentality and ability to help elevate others in their career development
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Skilled at building rapport and setting expectations with stakeholders, including those at the executive level
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; ideal candidates have experience adapting in rapidly changing environments and contributing to an evolving sales process
  • This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Austin, Texas. Must live in Austin or the surrounding areas
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must have existing authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
