ABOUT NEW YORK CITY TOURISM + CONVENTIONS             

New York City Tourism + Conventions is the official destination marketing organization (DMO) and convention and visitor’s bureau (CVB) for the five boroughs of New York City. Our mission is to maximize travel and tourism opportunities throughout the City, build economic prosperity and spread the dynamic image of New York City around the world.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The role is the primary contact for the hotel members responsible for selling new hotel memberships, renewals and engaging and servicing existing hotel members. They must develop and maintain strong relationships with hoteliers and stay apprised of new hotel developments and the overall hotel landscape in NYC including the portfolios of various ownership and management groups.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as primary liaison with the NYC hotel community.
  • Prospect and sell membership to new and non-member hotels which can include:
    • Researching property to calculate membership dues.
    • Creating customized deck/proposals that includes membership benefits and invoices.
    • Onboard new hotel members: enter all necessary information into CRM, ensure accuracy of photos, listings, etc.
    • Meet new revenue goals for hotels including renewals and collections.
  • Foster and grow engagement with hotel members.
    • Promote attendance at member events, trade shows and sales missions.
    • Manage annual Hotel Week program including solicitation and program logistics.
    • Leadership role in annual Hotel Partner Meeting including contributing to content and attendance building.
    • Maintain hotel members account information.
  • Track hotel development in the City. Keep up with industry trends using data to help guide department initiatives.
  • Work across departments to achieve organizational goals and priorities.
  • Attend related business functions and conferences to maintain leadership in the field, and to develop and expand membership base.
  • Provide complete, accurate and timely performance reporting.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience relating to the NYC hotel industry; strong existing relationships is a plus.
  • General knowledge of New York City’s boroughs and neighborhoods.
  • Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills (1-on-1, in group settings, and executive level)
  • Ability to produce results through teamwork, collaboration, and consensus building.
  • Analytical and process-oriented mindset with curiosity and openness to continuous learning and improvement

 

Position qualifies to participate in the membership’s incentive sales plan. New York City Tourism + Conventions currently requires this position to be in the office three days per week.
