REPORTS TO: Front Office Manager
BASIC PURPOSE: Perform duties of Bellman, Valet, and Shuttle Driver, assisting guests upon Welcome and Farewell, and as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Warmly greet guests as they arrive at hotel’s entrance. Provide description and costs of available parking options.
- Provide luggage assistance to hotel guests.
- Explain all hotel facilities, their location in the hotel, hours of operation, and answer all questions about these facilities and other hotel questions.
- Safely park and retrieve vehicles of guests who have selected the option of valet parking. Inspect vehicles for damage prior to receiving and/or returning them to guests.
- Perform pick-ups and drop-offs at the airport for the guests in a timely and courteous manner.
- Securely store luggage for hotel guests.
- Maintain the designated stations in the lobby, standing alert to be easily located by guests or front office associates.
- Open doors while guests are being greeted in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the bell stand, lobby and baggage room. Clean entrance doors and windows during slow periods.
- Post the daily events board and entertainment board in the lobby.
- Maintain an open communication line through all shifts.
- Deliver messages, dry cleaning, etc. to guest rooms as requested.
Knowledge and Skills:
Education: High School education or equivalent experience.
Experience: High guest contact experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate with guests and respond to questions.
- Knowledge of hotel services, local area events and activities.
- Ability to drive both vans and automobiles required. Must be 21 years of age.
- Possession of valid driver’s license and excellent driving record, as verified by a Motor Vehicle Report, required.
- Ability to operate vehicle with manual transmission preferred.
- Second language may be desired.
Hours Required: Scheduled days and times may vary based on need.
ENVIRONMENT: Physical Job Requirements (for essential functions only)
- Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying: Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and push or pull a minimum of 120 lbs of various sizes of luggage, packages, coolers and boxes
- Bending/Kneeling: Must be able to bend to lift luggage, packages, coolers and/or boxes that weigh up to 60 lbs.
- Mobility: Continually walking, standing, lifting or pulling, 90 to 95% of time, large step into van.
- Continuous Standing: Continuous standing 95% of time.
- Work Environment Inside: 80% of eight hour shift. Outside: 20% of eight hour shift.
- Equipment Operation Vehicles, 20% of eight hour shift.'
