Patriot Software and its family of companies are searching for an Associate Controller. The Associate Controller will assist in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes under the supervision of senior management. Responsibilities may include reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and assisting with internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software and financial systems. This position will be full-time, on-site at our Canton, OH office.

Requirements
What You'll Be Doing:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the accounting team (which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll), providing guidance, support, and mentorship to staff members.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures for the company, with a focus on continuous improvement and refinement of existing practices.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and streamlining accounting processes.
  • Conduct regular meetings and performance reviews with accounting team members to provide feedback, address concerns, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Prepare general journal entries for posting to the general ledger, and review and post any journal entries prepared by accounting personnel on the team.
  • Review and post system-generated journal entries from internal proprietary software systems.
  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial records are accurate.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations of all bank accounts, and handle credit card refunds and chargebacks.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing certain accrual calculations and journal entries.
  • File and pay sales and use taxes with all taxing agencies as needed.
  • Maintains state-by-state business licenses.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of the annual financial audit.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights (including financial projections and analysis) and support business initiatives.

What You'll Need:
  • High level of honesty and integrity.
  • Experience with accounting software, strong computer skills, and proficiency with Excel and Google spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and state and federal regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Experience with managing a line of credit and/or business funding.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
  • Ability and openness to work collaboratively across our family of companies, contributing to diverse projects and gaining valuable experience in multiple business environments.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CPA eligibility is preferred but not required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in corporate financial accounting, including leadership experience.

Location & Commitments:

Full-time, Direct Hire and On-Site in Canton, OH.

This position is open to all candidates who legally reside and are eligible to work in the United States.

Working hours are established by each team and department based on business needs. For this role, core working hours are typically between 8am - 5pm EST, Monday through Friday. Due to the nature of our businesses, we have busy seasons and "right-nows" that occasionally require working outside of core hours.
