Job Description

Director

Employed by and accountable to the St. Paul CELC Guidance Committee.  Under the direction of the Executive Director.  Qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and at least 3 years’ experience in the same field.

 

Director Job Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:

 

1.     Ensure the daily operations of the childcare and school-age program are carried out smoothly and efficiently.

2.     Create a welcoming atmosphere for parents, staff, and the public.

3.     With the guidance of the CELC Executive Director, coordinate and guide the activities of the Teachers in the program.

4.     Ensure program meets all state guidelines and regulations in order to pass the yearly state inspection. Report any unresolved issues to the Executive Director.

5.     Commit and maintain program’s mission, current quality maintenance and continuous quality improvement initiatives through Keystone Stars. Report any unresolved issues to the Executive Director

6.     Interview, hire, and if necessary, discipline/terminate personnel along with the Executive Director.

7.     Administer CELC policies and procedures as stated in the Family and Staff Handbooks.

8.     Work with the Executive Director to Prepare and present an Administration report to the CELC Guidance Committee (a general overview of the month’s activities, specific staff concerns or operating problems, major purchasing requests and delinquent accounts for committee action).

9.     Compile and maintain classroom staff personnel files, orientate, and train classroom staff, evaluate employee performance through initial and yearly evaluations, document employee concerns, goals and training plan, to include Pediatric First Aid and other required trainings for new hires. Discuss findings with the  Executive Director.  Present evaluations to the committee for approval.

10.  Support and assist families in navigating subsidy programs.

11.  Ensure teachers completion and finalization of assessments (Teaching Strategies Gold and 45-day observations -Ages & Stages reports). Review outcomes with lead teachers.

12.  Work with the Director to manage classroom lists and search for marketing tools and ideas to build up enrollment.

13.  Show perspective clients through the center describing the CELC program and explaining center policies. Follow up with phone calls/surveys.

14.  Coordinate and communicate move-up dates with the classroom teachers.

15.  Distribute the annual program evaluations to families.  Review the results with the Executive Director and make improvements to the program as necessary.

16.  Coordinate and conduct monthly fire drills.

17.  Work with the Executive Director to plan CELC program events.

18.  Work with the Executive Director to plan and conduct monthly staff meetings and Teacher In-Service days. 

19.  Train and Mentor lead teachers through lesson plans, observations, assessments (Ages & Stages, Teaching Strategies Gold) portfolios, ERS and PDR).

20.  Regularly complete classroom observations for teacher evaluations and to assure maintenance of STARS and NAEYC standards. Report any deficiencies to the Director.

21.  Establish and maintain a positive, healthy, and safe working environment for employees.

22.  Foster effective teamwork between Executive team, and teaching staff.

23.  Continue to develop professionally through reading, professional development trainings, and attending conferences to meet the required 12 hours of training.

24.  Establish good public relations with the parents, (be visible on a regularly basis when parents are dropping off and picking up) Church personnel and other stakeholders in the community.

25.  Work intentionally to connect the staff through clear communication, understanding of program(s), and team-building activities.

26.  Maintain tracking of paid vacation and sick days for staff.

27.  Other duties as assigned.

 

Additional duties:

●       Newsletters-coordinate with Admin.

●       Epistle article for Church-Monthly

●       Family email blasts about special events and notices

●       Send out summer camp brochures.

●       Meet with Executive Director and teachers to develop yearly calendar and scheduled events.

●       Compile weekly bank deposits.

●       Attend every other month Guidance Committee Meetings
