Acara Solutions is hiring a Rail Field Test Engineer in the Queens to Brooklyn, NY area

This is 1 year contract position with strong opportunity for extension and or permanent hire

Schedule: Full Time
-Flexible
- (1st, 2nd and 3rd shift schedules depending on the need, Overtime Available)

**Rail experience is extremely preferred, but field work in a transportation setting will be considered**

Perform integration and test activities comprising of field support of on
-going project activities. Perform Field Change modification to existing Designs as needed; Perform field troubleshooting, maintenance in CBTC equipment such as vehicle and wayside systems, and other external tasks related to test documentation and formalization of reports.

  • Performs on
    -site installation and maintenance of Non
    - CBTC and CBTC equipment for wayside systems
  • Initiates work process procedures as per customer process
  • Identify problems detected during tests and corrects them as required
  • Supports Troubleshooting and repair CBTC equipment as required
  • Provides support of test Carborne and Wayside activities and the planning of field activities
  • Provides technical support in all operational matters in the functionality of wayside subsystems
  • Works with diverse departments and becomes involved in all phases of integration, commissioning, and support
  • Promotes customer relations / company credibility
  • Investigate/Troubleshoot system anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and interaction with development departments
  • Provide summaries and detailing of test activities in the form of both informal and formal test reports


Pay Rate: $50/hr.



:

  • We are looking for someone more on the physical technician side vs theoretical engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant Rail Field Test Engineer experience or Transportation field test experience
  • Field experience in a rail transit installation, test or support environment or similar technology application is of significance
  • Experience in support of field activities
  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments
  • Demonstrated fluency and understanding/comprehension in oral and written English
  • Strong process orientation and discipline to ensure compliance with both Corporate and Customer procedures
  • Flexibility to take on additional projects and adapt to changes in priorities
  • Wear protective equipment such as safety vest, hard hat, safety boots, safety glasses, and flashlight, when required.
  • Position requires flexible work schedule. Work hours varying in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek
  • Compliance with Federal regulations for drugs and/or alcohol including initial negative screen and random negative testing

Preferred skills:

  • Knowledge of automatic train control systems concepts and principles as well as current existing signaling standards
  • Experience in installation and testing of train control systems
  • Working knowledge of Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) products with respect to installation support and testing a strong asset
  • Experience in deploying fixed block signaling systems a strong asset
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field

Physical Demands:

  • Capacity to move in the field environment: train track, car shop, remote technical rooms, and train station
  • Capacity to board the train from a car pit
  • Capacity to read field instruments such as meters or oscilloscope
