Job description

**This Opportunity** WSP is initiating a search for a Senior Rail Signaling Engineer to work out of one of our **Northeast Offices** to lead complex **Northeast Corridor railroad projects** as part of our **National Transit and Rail Systems Business** and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. **Your Impact** + Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, and other disciplines to execute multidisciplinary technical work including signaling and Positive Train Control (PTC) design for multiple concurrent Amtrak and other Northeast Corridor railroad projects. + Ensure that Systems Engineering concepts and processes are applied on railroad projects through the project life cycle, including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, integration, testing, commissioning, and transition to operation and maintenance. + Review signaling concepts, technical designs, and specifications to assess compliance with specifications, standards, and sound engineering practices, review cost estimates, and coordinate with stakeholders and contractors. + Remain current in latest signal engineering techniques and practices. + Lead or support business development opportunities and proposals. + Participate in WSP's quality process for all deliverables. + Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings. + Lead meetings with clients and WSP colleagues to discuss project challenges and help the team achieve a satisfactory outcome. + Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff. + Collaborate with professionals across a variety of disciplines to provide "trusted advisor" services and future-ready solutions for clients. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. **Who You Are** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline. + More than ten years of post-education experience in planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, cutover, project management, and construction management for signaling and PTC systems for Amtrak or other Northeast Corridor railroads. + Engineer license required or ability to obtain within 6 months. + Advanced written communication skills. + Highly effective interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, project managers, and employees at all levels. + Highly proficient in systems engineering principles, practices, and processes. + Experienced in providing critical review of documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity. + Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help move toward the most effective, economical, and logical technical solution. + Immediate availability to work in the US. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment. + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master's Degree in Engineering. + 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred. + Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
