This position is based in Houston, TX and responsible for the reporting, the ongoing support and the administration of databases pertaining to enterprise business applications.

Job Description 

• Responsible for writing and debugging complex SQL and understands the best ways to incorporate database requests into application programs. 
• Is deeply involved in requirements definition, design, development, deployment, maintenance and enhancement of applications.
• Understand and apply advanced database administration, management and performance tuning techniques.
• Should be able to coordinate with other team members, or developers to explain their database design or management systems.

Primary Responsabilities 

• Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for applications and database systems
• Configure and tune oracle and Linux OS parameters to ensure optimum performance and resource utilization
• Understand server clustering techniques and its impact on database configuration and performance using Oracle CRS clustering software
• Manage standby databases, snapshots and other advanced database features such as Oracle Dataguard
• Understand database recovery techniques RMAN, and flashback or flash recovery area. Perform exports, rman backups and data extracts as required
• Manage Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) environments and be able to perform troubleshooting with RAC nodes
• Participate in design and review of application codes
• Proven experience with integration from Oracle to Postgresql.
• Develop shell scripts for monitoring
• Develop procedures and processes for data migration and application development
• Participate in meetings and conference calls related to project and troubleshooting activities
• Develop strong working knowledge of key applications and their interaction with the database(s)
• Provide application development, enhancements, modifications, performance tuning, and support services for assigned projects.
• Knowledge of Oracle Applications specifically Oracle Apps and Middleware technology products management, schema updates, data migrations, tech upgrades, and patching.
• The possibility to expand knowledge, and experience in Data Science. Any of the following skills would be advantageous.  SQL, Python and other languages surrounding Big Data for analysing data and building statistical models for specific business problems.
• You will be required to work in 24 x 7 with on-call

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or similar work experience.
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of professional experience as an APPS Application DBA with Oracle, or Postgresql.
