Job Description

Monitoring Technician

Successful completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythm Recognition Course offered through Education Dept within 90 days of position acceptance.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: No previous experience required with cardiac monitoring; however, within 90 days must demonstrate proficiency in cardiac monitoring and successful completion of the tutorial and skill validation checklist Preferred: 6 months experience with cardiac monitoring

Responsibilities:

Documenting cardiac rhythm in EMR
Ensuring all patients ordered for a telemetry monitor are on a monitor frequently.
Appropriately perform phlebotomy and EKG’s as needed
Collect and labels specimens, at patient's bedside
Obtains 6-second strip as indicated by patient condition and gives current strips to charge nurse for further evaluation
Adheres to LifeCare policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations
Responsible for the observation of cardiac / hemodynamic monitors and patient activity on a video monitors if applicable
Reports any unusual activity to nurse or charge nurse
Documents according to unit policy
