Job Description
 
 

This is an exciting opportunity reporting to and working collaboratively with the director of communications to bring NYLAG’s work and mission to life. The position will manage existing digital marketing and communications responsibilities. The coordinator is highly encouraged to help develop new, innovative approaches to tell NYLAG’s story in the digital space. This position works closely with many NYLAG colleagues, including senior staff, the fundraising team, and program directors. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 


Participate in editorial planning for awareness, policy, and fundraising campaigns and, with guidance from the director, implement designated parts of the editorial calendar and yearly strategic communications and marketing plan. 

  • Regularly create, manage, and update, content (such as stories, statements, news, web pages) for nylag.org, legalhealth.org, and our proprietary social media accounts
  • Manage back-end website maintenance and updates, including liaising with website consultant where needed
  • Manage email marketing efforts (drafting content, managing approvals, and sending all external marketing emails) 
  • Serve as gatekeeper for email subscriber lists, including segmenting email marketing lists as needed
  • Create graphic designs for social media content, flyer templates, special projects, and more
  • Monitor, compile, and analyze data from NYLAG’s digital media platforms to strategically increase visibility and make data-informed decisions for future content and campaigns
  • Utilize best practices and new approaches to support fundraising in a digital space
  • Support the director in ensuring effective, consistent NYLAG branding on all communications materials, including by outside organizations and companies
  • Liaise with communications vendors, including graphic designers, printers, and photographers 
  • Play a supporting role in implementing internal communications strategy 
  • Support the management of Google Ads
  • In absence of director, cover sensitive communication matters
  • Support other marketing and communications functions as needed, including copy editing and brainstorming strategy and talking points

 

Administration and Operations: 

  • Serve as gatekeeper for all outreach materials (such as signage, banner, tablecloth, giveaways, etc.) and digital marketing equipment (cameras, etc.)
  • Catalogue and maintain a bank of image files for use in marketing and communications efforts   
  • Support admin functions, such as department payment requests from vendors

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in marketing, communications, and graphic design in a professional setting preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in graphic design and relevant software: Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and similar applications/software. 
  • Proficiency in social media, email marketing, and website management (Mailchimp or similar platform, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices on digital media platforms 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a rapid response environment
  • Collaborative and kind attitude
