OVERVIEW

Provides assistance to case managers while also providing advocacy and assistance to individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, deaf-plus, blind, and/or low vision with a variety of life management and independent living skills. Focus areas include, but are not limited to, assisting clients with paying bills, navigating the use of public transportation, all aspects of receiving medical services, and navigating certain aspects of individual education and development. Position may be stressful from time to time and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides support and assistance to individuals in the areas of life management and independent living skills to include finance and money management, appointment planning and scheduling, reading and comprehending mail, tax information, bill pay, use of public transportation, and use and role of interpreters
  • Assists case managers with individuals on caseload; directly aids individuals in obtaining Social Security payments, food assistance, healthcare, and other forms of public assistance
  • Assists clients in telephonic communications; provides assessment and training as necessary and requested
  • Ensures completion of all required agency paperwork, forms, and reports as required, or assigned - including file notes when indicated and required
  • Completes all required training and participates in required meetings
  • May drive agency and agency-rented vehicle on company business
  • May perform other duties as assigned
  • Unless written approval received from Leadership, weekly work hours are not to exceed 10 hours; program to be completed prior to June 30, 2024

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience and familiarity in working with individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, deaf-plus, blind, and/or low vision
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language
  • Ability to write clear and easily understandable reports in standard English
  • Ability to travel independently
  • Basic computer and typing skills

REGULATORY
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle report
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate Degree in related field
  • Additional years of directly-related experience
