Operations Manager

Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers on five continents. This position will be located at ACE Controls, Inc., a Stabilus company. ACE is the internationally recognized expert in the field of industrial damping technology. The company’s portfolio now includes automation control, motion control, vibration control and safety products.

Job Overview:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the production activities of a multishift operation in order to meet the business objectives. This position is accountable for all plant performance operating metrics and will ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner. This position will also be responsible for ensuring company policies and procedures are followed. This position collaborates closely with all areas of the organization including Sales, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance.

Essential Job Functions:

· Direct and manage daily plant operations including production, manufacturing engineering/maintenance, quality and supply chain to accomplish ACE’s goals and objectives in a timely and cost-efficient manner

· Coordinate plant activities with functional department managers to ensure that the plant manufacturing objectives are supported.

· Establish and monitor plant operational key performance indicators (KPI’s) and develop/implement corrective actions as needed to maintain and improve performance as needed.

· Implement effective systems of control over health, safety and environment to guarantee compliance with relevant regulations and requirements

· Identify, train, develop, motivate, and manage subordinates to ensure that the plant has the necessary qualified and motivated workforce.

· Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices as needed

· Drive LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives from concept to closure focusing on waste reduction and process optimization

· Prepares periodic reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends (e.g., projects, operating performance, etc.) as needed.

· Manage budgets and forecasts to achieve overall business unit financial targets

· This position will also have exposure with different centers of operations as part of global initiatives and customers around the world.

Skills:

· Proven work experience as an operations manager or similar role in a manufacturing environment

· Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management

· Experience budgeting and forecasting

· Familiarity with business and financial principles

· Excellent organizational and communication skills

· This individual must also possess exceptional leadership qualities and the ability to build an effective team, as well as be an effective team member.

· All candidates must possess a demonstrated working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques including Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, Visual Management, OEE and SMED

· Demonstrated experience with ERP systems, preferably QAD-EE, or SAP

· Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Education, Training, Certifications:

· A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing supervisory or management position is required

· Four-year degree in Business, Operations Management or Engineering

· Exposure to safety programs and ISO standards
