The Regional BIM/VDC Manager is responsible for overseeing the BIM/VDC operations across the West Central Region. This includes managing VDC-related schedules, coordinating with all trades, prioritizing resources, and meeting project deadlines. The role demands hands-on technical proficiency with BIM/VDC software, a deep understanding of building construction, solution-based thinking, and effective job coordination between trades. With a strong emphasis on support, accountability, and decision-making, this individual will lead the teams to drive efficiency, accuracy, and innovation in our construction projects.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Led and mentored VDC teams, representing B&Is hydronic pipe, ductwork, plumbing, and electrical scopes across multiple projects. Modeling, coordinating, and producing timely deliverables to our field teams and shops.
  • Provide direction for BIM/VDC activities, including implementation, integration, development, maintenance, training, design interface, and quality assurance measures that keep current with our rapidly growing and evolving markets. 
  • Manage regional office employees to adhere to standard operating procedures and processes, including collaboration with other managers to revise outdated or create new processes. 
  • Utilize company BIM/VDC software proficiently and actively participate in coordination as needed.
  • Oversee the hiring and management of VDC team members to meet workload requirements.
  • Communicate and strategize with the Corporate BIM/VDC team and other Regional Managers to assist with regional workloads.
  • Procure and manage subcontractors for sub-contracting overflow workloads and services if needed.
  • Monitor BIM files and software for productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with VDC and Field Superintendents to resolve construction issues identified through VDC efforts.
  • Mentor junior coordinators to best practices in BIM Coordination standards, construction knowledge, and software use.
  • Participate in turnover, Kick-off, close-out, and coordination meetings to support VDC, Pre-Fab, and Shop needs. This includes initiating and hosting internal VDC or project stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop coordination processes, VDC schedules, and meeting structures with general contractors and subcontractors.
  • Maintain project cost data, completion percentages, and projected final coordination costs.
  • Manage the spooling process and prioritize internal workload based on fabrication and construction requirements.
  • Troubleshoot software issues and collaborate with IT on updates, upgrades, and improvements.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.
Leadership and Management:
  • Act as a champion for cross-disciplinary collaboration within the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Lead innovation initiatives within the VDC department.
Training and Development:
  • Encourage continuous learning and professional development in emerging technologies and BIM/VDC best practices.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge-sharing platform for the VDC team.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management; or ten years MEP Commercial or other relevant construction experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in VDC/BIM or Project Management.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability with BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo, Trimble).
  • Deep understanding of prefabrication techniques and multi-trade prefabrication elements.
  • Experience managing VDC budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure project success.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools, such as Autodesk BIM 360, ProjectSight, Procore, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of leadership, decision-making, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a construction or engineering organization.
  • Relevant certifications or training in VDC, such as the CM-BIM (Certificate of Management - Building Information Modeling) or similar credentials, would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Database planning.
Safety Awareness:
  • Safely executes all tasks; utilizes safe work practices as appropriate and per company policy. 
  • Wear protective equipment when entering areas requiring the same (Hard Hats, Work Boots, etc.)  
  • Undergo DPAS training necessary for travel to worksites. 
  • Possesses or agrees to attain OSHA 30 certification as needed.
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, reach overhead, push, pull, lift, and carry up to 10 lbs., and have the dexterity of fingers (or mechanical substitutions).
