Primary purpose: Install and repair (includes demolition) all types of tile (backsplashes, showers, floors, fireplaces, accent walls, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Punctuality and Attendance: Arrive to work on time every day, adhering to Company policies for Paid Time Off and sick days.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate openly and clearly with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth workflow and project coordination.
  • Detailed Planning: Review installation paperwork meticulously to understand the scope of each job, including tile material, layout, grout color, etc.
  • Methodical Tile Layout: Plan tile layouts meticulously to ensure the end result is aesthetically pleasing and aligned with design specifications and customer expectations.
  • Skilled Installation: Install tile backsplashes, showers, floors, tub decks, fireplaces, and accent walls in both new construction residential homes and remodel projects.
  • Waterproofing Expertise: Install waterproofing materials according to manufacturer specifications, ensuring durability and longevity of installations.
  • Electrical Heat Preparation: Be familiar with and install materials to prepare tiled floors for electrical heat installation, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
  • Quality Grouting: Grout tile installations with precision and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality finishes.
  • Warranty Work and Repairs: Delicately remove tile and waterproofing materials for warranty work, and perform repairs on backsplashes, showers, and floors as needed.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Expertly use tile setting tools safely, adjusting equipment as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
  • Customer Interaction: Interact with customers and subcontractors in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Training and Development: Attend product knowledge and installation trainings organized by supervisors or third-party vendors to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Documentation: Complete required documentation, such as updating project management software daily, accurately reflecting services performed or required.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Keep the work vehicle clean at all times and attend scheduled meetings as required.
  • Mentorship: Guide and teach tile apprentices about the trade daily while on job sites, sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Accountability: Maintain cleanliness and organization of paperwork, ensuring it is kept clean, dry, and neat.
  • Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive attitude towards work and colleagues, contributing to a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of tile setting experience with a strong understanding of layouts and TCNA standards, consistently producing high-quality workmanship with attention to detail.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Schluter trims and various waterproofing techniques, demonstrating an advanced understanding of tile-related products, processes, and paperwork.
  • Ownership Mentality: Think like an owner with a proactive approach to problem-solving and task completion, dedicated to growing knowledge base and keeping up with industry advancements.
  • Adaptability: Adjust approach to fill demands on the fly, able to problem solve with minimal supervision, remaining calm under pressure.
  • Reliability: Reliable, responsible, and dependable, demonstrating careful attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
  • Safety Awareness: Don’t procrastinate or take safety risks, maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure and ensuring the safety of oneself and others.
  • Tool Proficiency: Knowledgeable with hand/power tools, possessing a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
