Position Title: System Administrator
Location: Washington, DC (on-site)
Clearance:
TS/SCI. Due to the nature of this government contract, U.S. Citizenship is required.

 

NEOSTEK, Inc. is looking for a System Administrator who will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure. This role involves managing servers, storage, virtualization, and other critical components to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of organizational IT environments. A Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI is required for this position. A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is preferred. Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, and VMware Certified Professional are preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in VM administration, Windows administration, and network administration, and should be able to demonstrate a strong technical acumen, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and backup solutions.
  • Install, configure, and administer operating systems, applications, and services, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and security.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity, implementing proactive measures to optimize resource utilization and mitigate potential issues.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, policies, and procedures to protect IT systems from unauthorized access, malware, and other threats.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to address vulnerabilities and improve system stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, collaborating with other IT teams and vendors as needed.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior system administrators and IT staff.
  • Participate in IT project planning, coordination, and implementation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration or related role.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Have hands-on experience in managing and maintaining virtual machines (VMs). This includes but is not limited to tasks such as configuring VMs, managing resources, patching, updates, and troubleshooting any issues related to virtualization.
  • Be well-versed in administering Windows-based systems. This includes but is not limited to tasks such as managing user accounts, configuring system settings, installing and updating software, and ensuring the security and integrity of the system.
  • Have a solid understanding of network administration. This includes but is not limited to tasks such as configuring and managing routers and switches, implementing network security measures, troubleshooting network issues, and optimizing network performance.
  • Strong knowledge of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and storage systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, or equivalent are preferred but not required.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of this government contract, US citizenship is required.
  • A current TS clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience in system administration or a related role.
