About the Role:

The Scientific Communications Associate Director will be responsible for the strategy and execution of medical communication plans, with a primary focus on publications. Working closely with internal and external authors and other stakeholders, this individual will ensure scientific communication outputs (publications and scientific content) align with overall medical objectives to ensure timely delivery of high-quality medical communications.

This role must focus on understanding best practices across our industry and ensure our internal processes are consistent with local laws, regulations, and guidelines as appropriate. This individual will build strong internal cross functional relationships with the relevant Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial and Corporate partners to ensure the needs/expectations of these partners are understood and integrated into the Scientific Communication processes and tactics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive integrated publication and scientific content planning and execution of assigned asset(s)/indication(s), with application and pull-through of scientific narratives and Scientific Communication Platforms.
  • Lead cross-functional publication planning meetings to ensure organizational alignment
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure quality data analysis, interpretation, communication planning, and data disclosure/dissemination opportunities.
  • Provide expert publication guidance to cross-functional teams related to the scientific communication landscape in the therapeutic areas, publication and scientific content planning, data disclosure/dissemination, and represent SpringWorks scientific communications to external investigators, key authors, and journal editors.
  • Implement publication and other related company policies, and manage the review and approval process for manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and other relevant documents to ensure appropriate evaluation and presentation of data.
  • Ensure all scientific communication outputs meet the highest standards of medical/scientific integrity, quality, and transparency.
  • Accountable for planning and tracking of budget including vendor management, contracting, and invoicing.
  • Ensure appropriate adherence with company policies and industry guidelines (ICMJE, GPP).
  • Manage medical communication agencies and/or contract medical writers and editors, to ensure timely and quality publication and content.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree. Advanced Scientific Degree (Ph.D, PharmD, MD) preferred.
  • 7+ years of related work experience in biopharmaceutical industry, with experience in medical communications or publications management.
  • Therapeutic Experience: Oncology/rare disease experience preferred.
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) and membership of the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) highly desired.
  • In-depth understanding of Good Publication Practices and guidance (GPP and ICMJE), Sunshine Act, Pharma Code of Conduct, and other guidance related to post-marketing practices and scientific data communication.
  • Expertise across all aspects of scientific publication strategy, planning, and execution
  • Experience interacting with vendors and managing budget.
  • Ability to think broadly, understanding the potential impact of scientific communications practices on the company, healthcare providers, patients, payers, and regulators.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders, and vendors effectively and clearly in a remote hybrid work environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally including overnight stay driven by business need.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is $152,200.00 - $200,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
