Compensation: $95,000 - $120,000 (plus full benefits PTO, Holidays, 401k, Insurance, etc)

This position reports to the VP of Operations, and will also interview with our CEO.

Direct Reports under this position are Shipping Manager, Purchasing Manager, Production Manager, and Quality Manager.

General Responsibility:

The Director of Operations will oversee all facets of facility operations to ensure quality, safety, and production targets are met. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a track record of building effective teams.

Background Requirements:

Experience in managing non-automotive, low volume production facilities, with a preference for composites experience.

Engineering background or understanding, particularly in manufacturing, production management, and production scheduling.

Facility Overview:

Location: 2382 Jarco Drive, Holt, Michigan 48842

Schedule: Monday-Friday, likely 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with occasional Saturdays half-day for catch-up work

Employees: 50-60

Product Lines: Fiberglass and thermoformed plastic, serving industries such as furniture, heavy trucks, buses, diving boards, and many more

Key Challenges & Opportunities:

Inefficiencies in ERP system utilization, requiring optimization for scheduling, inventory management, and reporting.

Job shop environment with frequent changeovers and small runs of various parts.

Immediate focus on catching up with past due orders by May, necessitating strategic scheduling and resource allocation.

Plans for a 30,000 sq ft facility expansion pending increased workload.

Responsibilities:

Lead and develop direct reports and support team members.

Provide leadership, training, and direction to production management.

Control labor overtime, purchasing, and repair expenses.

Implement and maintain lean manufacturing practices.

Oversee new product launches and maintain communication with customers.

Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Monitor plant performance and financials, collaborating with senior management.

Quality Control:

Establish and monitor plant performance for production and quality standards.

Ensure compliance with company standards and specifications.

Monitor scrap rates and identify areas for improvement.

Safety:

Take personal accountability for preventing injuries and protecting company assets.

Increase awareness throughout the operation of safety equipment and emergency procedures.

Ensure compliance with personal protection guidelines and equipment maintenance.
