Housed within the Career Center, the Job Training Program provides short-term paid work experience to clients who face barriers to employment. Participants are placed in positions in various departments at the Our House Campus and at our Resale Stores. The Job Training Specialist will have the vision and leadership to manage all aspects of the program and ensure that participants receive the ongoing support they need to successfully transition to unsubsidized employment. This position will be supervised by the Training Coordinator.

    • Understand grant eligibility and documentation requirements, and maintain complete files for enrolled clients. Partners that support the Job Training Program include AARP, the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services, and the Department of Labor.
    • Complete all required enrollment packets, onboarding paperwork, background checks, and COVID Vaccine verification for new enrollees.
    • Ensure participants understand the expectations and goals of the program through regular program orientation and individual assessments.
  • Communicate with Job Trainee supervisors across campus and resale stores about participant performance, attendance, and areas of improvement.
  • Visit Job Trainees at their Work Sites, both on and off-campus, and provide ongoing support,  such as performance evaluations, job skills and soft skills training, connections to supportive services, and referrals to resources.
  • Support Job Trainees in transitioning to stable, unsubsidized employment after completion of the program.
  • Explore growth opportunities for the Job Training Program, including the creation of new positions, new Work Experience sites, and the development of new training materials in the Career Center.
  • Enter client information in the Our House database, track outcomes, provide follow-up services,  and understand performance measures for Career Center programs.
  • Work with the Development Team to highlight client success stories that represent the Employment and Training programs at Our House.
  • Actively engage and energize Our House staff members, volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, donors, and grant funders.
  • Work closely with the Career Center team to align all programming with goals relating to long-term, sustainable employment.
