Who we want

The Associate Development Officer is an integral part of the Resource Development Team (RDT). The RDT is composed of both development and marketing experts and is responsible for raising annual and capital funds in support of My Possibilities through a variety of efforts (over $4.2 million in 2023). This employee will work closely with other Development Officers to focus on donor development and is the primary liaison between our outside event management team and RDT. This position will give you the opportunity to work with all aspects of the department to get a 360-degree understanding of fundraising.

By cultivating relationships and soliciting sponsorships and donations to events, this position is a vital part of the team. Essential functionsRelationship building
  • Represent MP to a range of constituents, establishing relationships, growing partnerships with all aspects of MP, and securing contributions
  • Develop relationships with current and future event sponsors
  • Using knowledge of the continuum of opportunities to get involved with MP (volunteer, donate, hire), ascertain, and creatively address funders’ needs or desires
  • Manage a portfolio of current and prospective supporters, creating strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for each relationship
  • In collaboration with the Campus Life Manager, organize individuals in Days of Inclusion/Service and volunteer activities on the MP campus and provide timely follow up

Major event leadership - (State of MP, Community Ball, Golf Tournament, and North Texas Giving Day)

  • With the Director of Development and Marketing, establish yearly event strategies including types, themes, dates, revenue, and participation goals.
  • Serve as liaison to outside event firms and RDT
  • With outside event firms, execute yearly event tasks, including:
    1. Recruit and support event chairs, co-chairs, and committee members
    2. Develop volunteer opportunities and organizational structure
    3. Solicit donations to silent auction
    4. Secure prizes for golf tournament
      1. Event sponsorship solicitation
      2. Coordinate all internal aspects of events by working with program staff on HIPster involvement and with external consultants
      3. Post-event analysis of event effectiveness, collect feedback, prepare debrief report, and schedule debrief meeting in a timely manner
      4. Prepare solicitation materials for events including introductory letters, sponsor communication, informational packets, final reports, and other mailings/correspondence

Resource Development Team responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement vision for annual State of MP event
  • Represent RDT in North Texas Giving Day planning and implementation
  • Represent MP at community engagement tabling events – as needed
  • Maintain accurate individual, family, and foundation database records
  • Attend and support overall Development department activities, including weekly meetings, fundraising events, and donor cultivation and stewardship events annually
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Outstanding organizational skills and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, Board members, donors, and prospective donors

Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Experience
  • Two - five years of experience in fundraising, event management, or administrative support

Specialized knowledge, skills, licenses, etc.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and valid car insurance required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Teams and Excel), CRM (NetSuite), Swiped On, and Canva experience a plus.

Supervisory responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Working conditions

This position will be based within the My Possibilities campus but will be required to attend meetings and events at different venues.
