Assistant National Director, Research, Monitoring, & Evaluation (RM&E)

Founded in 2010, Up2Us Sports is a national nonprofit organization that is focused on the power of coaches to transform the lives of our nation's most vulnerable youth, and the communities they live in, through sports. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant National Director of Research, Monitoring, & Evaluation (RM&E) supports data collection and analysis and program evaluation for the Up2Us Sports programs. In addition to building internal capacity and supporting the Up2Us Sports' RM&E activities nationally, the Asst. National Director for RM&E will coordinate the implementation of large-scale evaluations of Up2Us Sports' programs. This person will liaise closely with internal staff and external partners to ensure RM&E activities are carried out in an effective and timely manner. The RM&E Manager will report to the National Director of Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

DATA FLOW PROCESS AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
  • Ensure high-quality data collection across Up2Us Sports programs
  • Coordinate data collection from all partner sites and oversee management, input, and cleaning of data.
  • Proactively identify and address any barriers to quality data collection.
  • Oversee the tracking, receiving, organizing, and entry of data collected from Host Sites, Coaches, and VISTAs.


DATA ANALYSIS AND REPORTING
  • Support Up2Us Sports' Development team on proposal development and reporting needs.
  • Clean and organize all data collected for programs.
  • Refine RM&E Data Analysis template to produce annual Host Site, Regional, and National data reports.


TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING
  • Train staff on RM&E tools, systems, and processes.
  • Refine RM&E training guides and materials for staff, Coaches, and Host Sites.


SYSTEMS AND TOOL DEVELOPMENT
  • Assist the Director of RM&E with adapting Up2Us' portfolio of data collection tools.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new quantitative and qualitative data collection tools.


RESEARCH, LEARNING, AND DISSEMINATION
  • Provide result summaries of Up2Us Sports program evaluations for Communications and Development purposes.
  • Support the design and execution of formal evaluation projects (e.g. quasi-experimental studies for AmeriCorps grants)
  • Contribute to the development of primary evaluation reports.
  • Familiarity with program evaluation, research methodologies, and implementation evaluation, and logic models.


PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
  • Oversee the data activities of AmeriCorps RM&E VISTAs and data interns.
  • Conduct monthly check-in calls with individual regional Coach Program teams.
  • Conduct bi-weekly check-in calls with the Career Readiness Team.
  • Conduct bi-weekly check-in calls with Coach Program Assistant National Director.
  • Travel may be required on an as-needed basis, no more than 10% of your work time.
  • Other duties as determined by your supervisor.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred within STEM, or equivalent work experience within data collection and analysis.
  • Experience working in monitoring, evaluation, quality improvement, learning, or academic or social sciences research.
  • Experience working with data collection, management, and visualization tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Excel, Tableau); statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, R), LMS (e.g., MyQuest ), Salesforce, and FormAssembly.
  • Must be able to work on a team, but also be self-motivated; experience working with remote teams preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and work on multiple projects at once.
  • Computer literacy and well-developed technology skills.
  • (Must be able to comfortably travel, whether with own vehicle or via public transit.)


Preferred
  • Strong connection with the youth sports community is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in working with youth from historically marginalized populations and communities.
  • Understanding and interest in both theory and practice of sports-based youth development.
