The Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast (EDC), a community coalition, is the lead economic development organization for Brevard County, Florida. The EDC is committed to assisting businesses locate and expand on Florida's Space Coast. We work collaboratively with local leaders and stakeholders to attract and grow business investment within the manufacturing and high-tech industries.

At the EDC our mission is to secure the economic future of Brevard County through community support, advocacy, collaboration, communication, and education. To ensure the Space Coast remains globally competitive, we must maintain a keen awareness of the latest industry trends, business intelligence, and competitive advantages.

We are currently seeking a Director of Communications and Stakeholder Relations to join our dynamic and forward-thinking organization dedicated to driving growth through innovative programs. This position will serve as an integral member of the management team, responsible for communicating with stakeholders and investors in support of the organization's mission and program of work by implementing strategic initiatives, managing media relations, and ensuring communications strategies for both internal and external audiences remain relevant.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Rockledge, Florida. Salary range is $75,000 - $90,000.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with executive leadership, develop and execute EDC communications program to include strategic marketing materials, press announcements, media content writing, and corporate presentations.
  • Interface with business leaders, community leaders, media, EDC Investors and key stakeholders to foster collaborative relations and partnerships.
  • Oversee corporate speaking engagements to ensure priority and targeted messaging.
  • Manage business development client project announcements and special events.
  • Lead the marketing team with a focus on project management and the application of new strategies to enhance effectiveness.
  • Represent the EDC by participating in key associations and organizations, serving on committees and advisory groups.
Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in Communications or related field; MBA or similar masters-level degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a professional communications role with an emphasis on stakeholder relations, preferably with a focus on marketing and economic development or government relations.
  • 5 or more years leading teams, including coaching and performance management.
  • Demonstrated progression in management development.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute adaptable strategic communications programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals, plan, execute and ensure that objectives are met. with the flexibility to adjust plans based on new insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management and Board of Directors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong strategic thinking and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced office environment, with a strong capacity for multitasking and adapting to competing deadlines.
  • Experience and proficiency with office technology and software to include MS Office 365, with a willingness to explore and adopt new digital tools to enhance communication and operational efficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to gather, interpret, and present information effectively.

Special Requirements: Must be available to attend after-hour functions and represent the EDC at various community organizations, related Boards, and other stakeholder events.

Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required to attend conferences and seminars to promote the EDC and Brevard County.
