Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Superintendent to join our team. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Project Superintendent and project management team to assist in the successful completion of commercial construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Project Superintendent in coordinating and supervising all construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to project specifications, schedules, and safety protocols.
  2. Oversee subcontractors and vendors, including scheduling, quality control, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  3. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and collaborate with the project team to develop and implement solutions.
  4. Conduct regular site inspections to assess work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project plans and specifications.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and safety records.
  6. Coordinate with the project team to facilitate efficient material deliveries, equipment rentals, and other logistical requirements.
  7. Assist in managing project budgets and timelines, including tracking expenses, monitoring labor costs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  8. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, safety awareness, and a commitment to excellence among project team members.
  9. Provide leadership and support to on-site personnel, including foremen, subcontractors, and laborers, to ensure successful project execution.
  10. Serve as a primary point of contact for client representatives, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and effective communication.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction, with a proven track record of assisting in the successful delivery of medium to large-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques, with the ability to interpret and understand project plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a proactive and results-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software, such as Procore or PlanGrid, preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
