Job description

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing the daily operations of construction projects. This role involves coordinating with various teams, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. The Assistant Superintendent plays a crucial role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in planning and scheduling construction activities.
  • Assisting the Superintendent in coordinating and scheduling of Trade Contractors; material/equipment deliveries, and the progress of the Project.
  • Track and inspect material deliveries.
  • Assisting the Superintendent for ensuring compliance of work with the contract documents, project schedules, and specifications.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Assist the Superintendent with the submittal review and documentation process and system.
  • Assist the Superintendent to ensure all testing is completed and documented as requested by the project specifications.
  • Identify issues that may arise during construction. Work collaboratively with the team to overcome challenges.
  • Assist in identifying non-conforming work and provide recommendations for corrections, or removal of such non-conforming work, to the Superintendent as needed.
  • Assisting the Superintendent with Site Management Coverage with regards to opening and closing of the project site, weekend job site coverage. As well as other times the Superintendent is unable to be on site for any reason.
  • Assist in managing project budgets and controlling costs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
  • Assisting the Superintendent with implementing and enforcing all pertinent safety and quality control policies and procedures.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Aiding in business development and client relations by keeping the Project clean, safe and organized.
  • Knowing the status of the Project and being prepared to answer questions concerning the Project and your role as the Assistant Superintendent with confidence.
  • Completing activities assigned in a timely manner and within the guidelines and deadlines set.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication among all stakeholders
  • Maintaining standards of personal appearance fitting for the role of Assistant Superintendent.
  • Working on other projects/duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in construction management or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
