POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
Accreditation: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges: Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For foreign medical graduates facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met the requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate.
Internship/Residency: Successful completion of residency program through one of the following:
- The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
- The Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association.
Board Certification: Board Certified in Anesthesiology
Continuing Medical Education (CME): Provide copy of current CME
Cardiac Certifications: Must have the following hands-on certification through the American Heart Association
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
License: Current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia).
NPI: Shall have appropriate NPI
DEA: Contractor shall provide a copy of current DEA certificate.

U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen.

English Language Requirement: Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
Training: Electronic Health Record educational trainings completed annually
Liability Insurance: The Federal Tort Claims Act does not cover Contractor or Contractor's physician(s). When a Contractor or Contractor's physician(s) has been identified as a provider in a tort claim, the Contractor shall be responsible for notifying their legal counsel and/or insurance carrier.

DUTIES:

Administers anesthesiology to surgical patients.
Performs anesthesiology services administrative functions. Coordinates patient care and the administrative activities of the anesthesiology services during and after surgical procedures. Monitors and evaluates anesthesiology activities to determine compliance with established standards of patient care, policies, and regulations. Analyzes the requirements for supplies, equipment, and other resources, and makes recommendations.
Contract Anesthesiologists shall be primarily required to perform anesthesiology services during surgical procedures. When the services are not required, or anesthesiology services are more urgently required elsewhere, the contract Anesthesiologists may be assigned by Chief Anesthesiology or his/her designated representative to provide support in other sections/departments of the MTF commensurate with their experience. Contract Anesthesiologists will participate in the educational requirements of the Anesthesia to include attendance in morning report.

HOURS:

7am - 5:30pm Monday-Friday
On Call Requirements: One weekday per week and one weekend per month

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
