Cardiac Anesthesiology

AMN Healthcare is partnering with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) to recruit a Cardiac/Liver Transplant Anesthesiologist for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care. Join a collegial team serving University Hospital (UH), New Jersey’s Level I Trauma Center, where clinical excellence, education, and access for a diverse community guide the work. You will provide high acuity cardiac anesthesia, participate in the state’s first liver transplant program, and teach residents one-on-one. Competitive, rank-based compensation, substantial annual variable pay, structured call, academic time, and strong state benefits support long-term professional growth.


Opportunity Highlights

  • Academic impact, day one: Teach senior residents one-on-one in cardiac and liver transplant cases; contribute to didactics, faculty development, and scholarly activity. 
  • Competitive compensation: Base by rank (Assistant $425K; Associate $450K; Professor $475K) plus ~$170K in annual variable compensation and a $10K cardiac fellowship stipend. 
  • Predictable schedule + premiums: Home beeper call (~13 weeks/year), overtime at $300/hour, optional late call premiums, and structured call tiers. 
  • Focused case mix: ~25 cardiac and ~45 liver transplant cases per year; faculty never cover both services simultaneously.
