Associate Food Scientist

Associate Food Scientist-R&D to perform food product development work to meet project objectives. Projects will include commercialization of new products, Shelf-life Management, Creation and Management of Sensory Programs, Quality Improvement and Cost Optimization of existing products and processes.

Role and Responsibilities

• Executes small scale and large-scale plant tests.
• Creates and manages product specifications.
• Perform and manage sensory evaluations.
• Manage shelf-life studies.
• Maintains accurate and complete records, analyzes reports.
• Utilizes a working knowledge of plant processes and facilities.
• Provides onsite monitoring and technical assistance to operations when testing/manufacturing new products.
• Leads commercialization of product changes and implementation of new items and processes.
• Identify and lead projects to drive revenue and margin growth for the organization.
• Stay updated on industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory changes.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment that follows Company Safety and GMP guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or similar field required.
• Master’s in Food Science, Animal Science or Meat Science.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in food product development in the meat industry.
• Sous Vide processing experience, including scale up to manufacturing operations.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Ability to work independently and in team situations.
• Pro-active self-starter that can take ownership of projects and completion of tasks in a timely manner with minimal oversight.
