SURGICAL COORDINATOR
Position Summary:
The Surgical Coordinator facilitates high quality, efficient and timely support and coordination of patient care and case management within our Mount Laurel Surgical Department. The Surgical Coordinator is the key contact person for the Surgery Department for both internal and external communication and scheduling.
Essentially, the Surgical Coordinator extensively communicates with Veterinary Hospital staff, veterinary students, post-graduate students, clients and referring veterinarians.
You will be required to display a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service, and represent the Veterinary Hospital and Small Animal Surgery Service appropriately and effectively in your regular and timely interactions with the internal and external community.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the nursing cohort within the department to provide a high level of nursing care to patients
- Provide effective and efficient coordination of services to ensure the provision of high quality customer service to clients and referring vets
- Actively promote the benefits of our Surgical Department
- Work closely with the Veterinarians and Neurologists in regards to patient scheduling, patient follow up, ensuring there is no overlap in scheduling, etc.
- Utilize high-level nursing and coordination skills in providing the optimal standard of nursing care to all patients and to enable the effective functioning of the Surgery Department
- Complete all critical follow-up calls and assist in determining what constitutes a critical follow-up alert
- Communicates with clients as needed regarding the medical status of their pets
- Call owners with normal bloodwork results
- Assist in filtering notes from doctorse familiar with hospital protocols (ie: vaccines)
- Be familiar with common side effects of medications and common treatment plans based on treatments and certain disease processes
- Be familiar with commonly used products
Skills & Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience in veterinary medicine
- CVT/VTS Certification a plus
- Be proficient in EMR and Cubex systems or able to quickly acclimate F
- Familiar with navigating medical records to guide the client in the next steps
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated and able to direct staff and take direction and develop a strong team/partnership
- Organized and have excellent time management skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required
Shift: 5 Days/Week including at least day per weekend. Shifts will be 8 hours and range between the hours of 6am-7pm or so. This is a full-time position and is eligible for the following benefits:

Pay Range: $20-$25/Hour based on experience and is eligible for Overtime at 1.5x
