Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

This position operates in a professional environment, which may include exposure to all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft.

OBJECTIVE: Under limited supervision, provides financial management and senior administrative support in all phases of accounting relating to the internal and external financial affairs and fiscal operations of Million Air.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates and maintains standard cost accounting systems, including the recording, processing, and compiling of financial data not captured by normal accounting processes.
- Assists in planning, developing, and implementing accounting policies and procedures applicable to the financial needs of the University.
- Responsible for the accounting and reporting functions for Million Air relating to the OMB-133 single audits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, general ledger and fixed assets.
- Reconciles and balances accounts payable, accounts receivable and deferred revenue accounts as needed or requested.
- Maintains general ledgers and journals using computer applications to include monitoring accounts for discrepancies.
- Generates and reviews monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy of information.
- Verifies Million Air's conformance with generally accepted accounting principles and reporting requirements of federal, state, and local government agencies. Keeps abreast of changes in external and internal reporting requirements.
- Assists with audit preparation, budget preparation, improvements to accounting systems and questions from senior-level management and Million Air associates.
- Maintains accounting computer systems to include troubleshooting problems and performing backup procedures as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Must have 4 years of experience in aviation accounting or higher education accounting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Competencies
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Products
- Minimum 5 years of business experience with emphasis on day-to-day accounting functions
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Ability to exercise independent direction and judgement, and work in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Excellent critical thinking skills
- Experience in a multi-company environment preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete tasks that require high attention to detail, with minimal supervision.
- Accounting activities including financial reporting and year end audit preparation.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors in accounting
- 5 years of business accounting experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience with a large, automated accounting system a plus.
- Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.
- Ability to pass a background check.
