Description
The role of the Acquisition Data Analyst is to ensure data quality for loan acquisition, reporting and research for resolution of escalated items. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and hands-on operational experience with loan diligence and resolving issues from both a business and data perspective. Strong Excel skills are required, and SQL knowledge is a plus.  The candidate must possess the interpersonal skills to facilitate a cohesive work relationship with both internal and external partners at various levels.  The ability to work and thrive both independently and collaboratively within an entrepreneurial small team environment is a must.  This position is a hybrid position, working in our Bloomington, MN office 3 days a week. 

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Responsible for the quality of loan data being used by our acquisition team during the purchase process and be accountable for key operational risk-management metrics including investigating and coordinating the resolution of any operational issues that are discovered.
  • Test reporting and analytic processes to support acquisition activity while providing recommendations to improve process. 
  • Become a subject matter expert and facilitator for the use, meaning, purpose, and application of due diligence data supplied by TPRs. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams and TPR’s to discover needs and define requirements for reporting.
  • Proactively triage operational issues, exceptions, and failures while driving to the root cause, communicating with the right parties, contributing to the resolution, and making improvements to prevent the problem from recurring.
  • Identify areas for improvements and recommend solutions while maintaining a working knowledge of existing business processes and reporting.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of best practices, policies and procedures for loan acquisition teams while understanding potential obstacles to implementation.
  • Ability to work with internal and external team members on data related criteria, changes and improvements based upon the data and the patterns identified. 
  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of data exception reports.
  • Support the Operations teams through the creation of ad-hoc queries, job aids and process documentation.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned that contribute to the growth of the company.
  • Aid transaction managers in managing all aspects of transactions while maintaining a high level of organization, managing vendor and project timelines, performing risk assessments, and escalating where needed, exuding confidence in day-to-day tasks such as leading conference calls, and managing counterparty communication.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the mortgage or investment banking industry.
  • Have a good understanding of pricing, mortgage origination and loan securitization, including a working knowledge of mortgage documents. 
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate well with external and internal teams
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills and basic SQL knowledge is preferred for this position. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 
  • Ability to identify and provide resolution to conflicts and discrepancies.
  • Possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel and Teams tools.
