Description
The Director of People is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management and driving company culture and the success of the organization. The successful Director acts as an employee champion and change agent in support of leadership. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. The Director seeks to develop integrated solutions, communicating needs proactively within the People department and business management. The position formulates partnerships across the company to deliver innovative value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives and values of the organization. The Director maintains an effective level of business literacy about the organization’s financial position, its mid- and long-range goals, and the company culture and values.


What you'll do:

Strategic Leadership
: Develop and execute strategic HR initiatives that support NES’ growth objectives and enhance employee development, engagement, and retention.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning. 
  • Lead the executives and managers in staffing their teams for growth.
  • Talent Acquisition and Management: Lead the full spectrum of talent acquisition activities, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retentions strategies. Develop innovative approaches to attract top talent and foster a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Employee Development and Training: Design and implement comprehensive employee development programs, including training, coaching, and career development initiatives, to support the professional growth of NES team members.
    • Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs. 
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Performance management: Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback mechanisms, to drive accountability, performance improvement, and employee development.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor and resource to employees and managers on HR-related matters, including conflict resolution, employee relations issues, and compliances with company and employment law policies and procedures.
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Culture and Engagement: Champion our company culture and values, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, motivated, and empowered to succeed. Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and morale.
  • HR Operations: Oversee HR operations, including compensation and benefits design and administration, HRIS management, compliance with employment law and regulations, and other HR related processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the senior business leadership to develop solutions, programs, and policies. 
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Change Management: Lead organization change initiatives, providing guidance and support to managers and employees to navigate change effectively and minimize disruption.
  • Establishes and maintains an annual budget.

What you'll need:
  • Minimum of 8 plus years' experience in multiple HR disciplines and increasing responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field, or commensurate experience in human resources.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including staffing, recruiting, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis and development, employee relations, diversity, performance management, training and development, and federal and state employment laws.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with Paychex Flex, or similar HRIS.
  • Experience with Pinpoint, or similar ATS.
  • Demonstrated experience in talent acquisition and management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Bonus points!
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management software.
  • Experience building and leading employee training. 
  • HR experience with a construction and/or solar development company.
