Our Mission

Family Promise of Morris County is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization dedicated to ending the crisis of homelessness faced by Morris County families by partnering with public and private agencies, religious congregations, and community volunteers to provide shelter, case management and mentoring services leading to self-sufficiency.

Job Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator directly supports all programs with needs for clients and staff, while overseeing volunteers and donations directly impacting programs. Community Engagement Coordinator manages community volunteers, service projects, and annual donation programs. Objectives also include cultivating donor relationships, focusing on agency and program needs, while highlighting benefits of donor connection to agency. Community Engagement Coordinator is directly involved in event and fundraising planning and organizing with Impact Team.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Donor Engagement
    • Engage in conversations with current and potential donors re: FP programs, stats, volunteer opportunities, and needs
    • Court specific donors with program updates, event invitations, pictures and stories of clients, tours of day center
    • Plan with donor type of donation, amount, and restriction(s)
    • Member of Fundraising and Community Engagement Committee
  • Events & Fundraising
    • Help plan, organize, and oversee FP fundraising events
    • Annual 5K, Growing Stage Theater performances, Massage Heights outdoor yoga, Holiday Gift Program, food and toy drives, bike-building events, high school sporting events
    • Attend and represent FP at community fundraisers
    • Guide and oversee donation drives and fundraising drives
  • Newsletter
    • Keep track of current FP updates, upcoming and recent FP and community events, client moves and accomplishments, volunteering and service projects, major donations, and asks
    • Gather and/or take pictures for each write-up
    • Contribute to newsletter content
  • Volunteer Management
    • Recruit, coordinate, and oversee volunteer projects:
      • Individual volunteering for Girl Scout/Boy Scout projects, school and/or church service hours, and adults (short term and long term)
      • DIAD groups – corporate, school, church, women’s groups; also review and implement system with Impact Team
      • Event volunteers – groups and individuals
      • Coordinate volunteer training
    • Follow-up with thank-yous and pictures
  • Donations
    • Coordinate incoming and outgoing donations and log into spreadsheet
    • Solicit specific donations through direct asks
    • Receive key donations in person and give tour of day center
    • Transfer donations from first floor to second floor and/or basement
    • Coordinate clients’ receipt of donations, including delivering when needed
    • Pick-up donation drive items from churches, events, and schools
    • Regular communications to clients about FP donations and other donations in county
    • Track in-kind donations and log into spreadsheet
    • Track all volunteer hours
  • Annual Donation Programs
    • Spring Baskets
    • Solicit and coordinate donations of spring baskets
    • Pick up baskets from donors and set up at day center
    • Hand out baskets to clients and deliver when needed
    • Follow up with thank-yous and pictures
    • Back to School Fair
    • Solicit and coordinate donations of backpacks and school supplies
    • Pick up backpacks from donors and set up at day center
    • Set up extra items such as clothes, shoes and boots, winter coats, pajamas, craft kits
    • Hand out backpacks to clients and deliver when needed
    • Follow up with thank-yous and pictures
    • Holiday Gift Program
    • Solicit and coordinate donations of gift cards and gifts
    • Sort and organize gifts to make ready for pick-up and delivery
    • Hand out gifts and deliver when needed
    • Follow up with thank-yous and pictures

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience in related field desired
  • Two years of increasingly responsible work experience in a social service and/or faith-based environment preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a full-time position, with occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with occasional off-site meetings and events
  • Travel within the local community may be required
  • Facility opening and closing
  • Attendance at agency events
  • Work with volunteers
  • Solicitation of in-kind donation items
