Design Engineer I

This position will be responsible for product design and system drawings for HORIBA & customer projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produces product design and systems drawings for Analytical, Automation and all HORIBA products.

• Creates product Bills of Material and Engineering Changes.

• Standardizes product drawings to match Horiba Worldwide products and facilitates consistency in design, design philosophy and material.

• Standardizes drawing documents and maintains product drawings, schematics, designs, and specifications.

• Proposes new product designs to reduce cost, improve performance and appearance and to solve design problems.

• Helps to coordinate the design activities among the analytical, mechatronics and project engineering groups.

• Assists the Engineering staff with manufacturing drawing release documents packages.

• Participates in Material Control activities, vendor and product quality reviews.

• Creates 3-D designs of products, test cell layouts, and engineered components.

Required Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar experience required.
• The ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years’ experience in Pro Engineer, Solidworks or AutoCad design software packages.
• Knowledge in Engineering changes, Bill of Material database systems, systems analysis & product design.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, along with strong interpersonal & customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in PC operations, Microsoft Office software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.), and Internet-based research and downloading.
