Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining an accounting and statistical records by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure Plant reports are accurate issued within deadlines as required by management or government agencies.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite work flow.
  • Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital and prepare information for financial statements as requested by the Divisional Controller.
  • Establish and modify documents and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
  • Tend to customs and brokerage documentation.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Performs duties of all employees supervised, as required.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Issues reports as requested by Divisional Controller.
  • Comply with requirements as outlined in the company handbook and the OHSA.
  • Practice good housekeeping.
  • Practices and obeys the environmental, health and safety rules of the company.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise and direct activities of subordinates in Accounting Department.

COMPETENCIES

Change Management: Build acceptance and commitment to change by involving those impacted by the change early in the process. Communicates the need and rationale for change and the consequences of doing nothing.

Financial Resource Management: Establishes and implements sound financial management practices and controls for the division/department/unit following established company policies and practices. Monitors these practices/controls to ensure compliance. Develops budgets that recognize short-term resources requirements in line with long-term, company/division/department needs. Manages with these budget limitations, notifying the appropriate parties when budge variances are anticipated.

Strategic Leadership: Contributes to the development of long-term company strategies by working collaboratively within the senior management team. Displays a pan company perspective when identifying opportunities that have strategic relevance. Develops division/department/goals and objectives in support of the company's mission and strategic direction and establishes clearly defined outcomes, levels or services, measures of success to monitor progress. Accurately forecasts resource requirements to achieve these outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or four or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in the Automotive and / or Manufacturing industry is desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

English language ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, Word, and Power Point.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY

Ability to approve monetary decisions related to product pricing.
