Test Automation Engineer

VES, LLC seeks a Test Automation Engineer that is looking to learn and develop their skills under a senior level testing team. The skills taught by our experienced team set a foundation for developing the skills needed to operate as a highly efficient Test Automation expert. You'll be working on a small team of exceptionally smart people to design, build and test a cutting-edge Army Command and Control system. This position can be performed remotely but occasional travel to NJ will be expected.

General Job Duties:

• Develop a deep understanding of the team's test processes and procedures
• Maintain and improve the performance of existing software solutions
• Recommend improvements to existing software solutions as necessary
• Help implement the appropriate test methodologies for various tools, and help create test plans based on development team's test report
• Review System/Application/Software Requirements
• Perform regression testing on delivered tools when incremental bug fixes are provided by the software developers
• Eagerness to grow professionally, and willingness to hone your craft

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Scripting in PowerShell, Python, or a similar language
• Working knowledge of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
• Ability to develop effective software test plans and software test strategy documentation
• Familiarity with professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including requirements elicitation, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, agile development, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience with Atlassian (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence).
• Ability to work independently as well as in a fast-paced collaborative environment
• Passionate about learning new technologies, tools, and platforms
• Ability to take guidance and execute in a self-motivated manner
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively identify software failures and root causes.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate software applications and data to deduce quality improvements.
• Experience with security testing methodologies to identify vulnerabilities in software applications.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

• Web Development experience using JavaScript/TypeScript
• SQL Database experience
• JMeter, Neoload, or similar load testing
• Understanding of REST and SOAP
• Performance metrics collection and reporting
• Demonstrated ability to create and manage an automated test suite
• Familiar with Test Management Tools such as TestLink, Zephyr, TestRail, etc.
• Military Standards including 6017A, 6017C, MIL2525C, and 2045-47001C
• TCP, UDP, and other Networking Protocols
• Military Networks including WIN-T, BFT2, and LAN
• VSPHERE and VMWare Administration
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for testing applications in isolated environments.
• Web Automation with Selenium, HP UFT, Sikuli or similar Web Automation tools
• Microsoft Windows Server Administration

Required Education and Experience:

• BS in Computer Science or a related field, with 4 years of relevant experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with respect to all the above requirements.
