Job Title: Project Engineer
Reports To: Project Manager
Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt
Primary Area of Focus:
- QA/QC
- Basic Design
- Modeling & Reports
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direction, coordination, and QA/QC oversight to EITs, CAD Techs, and Designers.
- Design simple projects including grading and drainage.
- Draft complex report documents independently.
- Perform final review and stamp approval for simple utility and drainage reports.
- Independently develop complex models.
- Lead meetings with clients and review agencies, presenting technical information.
- Monitor compliance with codes, practices, and QA/QC policies.
- Perform quality control on tasks, budgets, schedules, and plans, reporting project status.
- Determine project specifications and prepare cross-sections for plan documents.
- Format base files from external project team members.
- Conduct design engineering on specific scopes or phases.
- Perform basic hydraulic and hydrology calculations and prepare specifications.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of timecards.
- Attend project team and public meetings as needed after hours.
- Achieve a 75-85% billable utilization rate, balancing non-billable activities such as meetings, professional development, and community involvement.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil, environmental, construction management, or related engineering field.
- Professional Engineering License.
- Minimum of 4 years of project planning and execution experience for land development projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, exposure to scheduling software ideal.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
- Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices.
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, and sitting required.
- Occasional project site visits may be necessary.
- Normal range of hearing required.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. occasionally.
- Prolonged sitting with 15% bending and reaching.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Noise levels consistent with a standard office environment.
