Lead Instructional Systems Designer

DiSTI is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Instructional System Designer (ISD) to join our growing team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of learning solutions for external customers. You will manage a team of instructional designers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure the delivery of high-quality training programs that meet the ever-evolving needs of our learners.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the instructional design process for a variety of programs. This includes eLearning modules, instructor-led training (ILT), blended learning programs, and performance support tools (PSTs).
• Lead the execution of training needs assessments, analyze learning objectives, and develop learning strategies aligned with industry best practices and adult learning principles.
• Manage and mentor a team of instructional designers, providing guidance and support on project execution and instructional design principles.
• Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to gather subject matter expertise and ensure content accuracy.
• Develop and maintain high-quality learning materials, including storyboards, scripts, multimedia elements, and assessments.
• Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies in learning and development.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources
• May manage one or more subcontractors developing courseware
• Identify and implement innovative learning solutions to enhance the learning experience.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with defense education and training programs.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an instructional designer, with at least 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
• Proven track record of designing and developing effective learning solutions across various modalities (eLearning, ILT, blended learning).
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design models (ADDIE, etc.).
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor a team of instructional designers.
• Experience with learning management systems (LMS) preferred.
• Proficiency in authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) preferred.
